Just came back from KL 3 days ago. Took me 3 whole days to blog about MIDE because I had to recover from the extreme crowd explosion in KL. Ugh. Headache, headache. Btw, KL is rather hazy these days.
Anyway, MIDE was quite an experience! I don't know if I'll go back there again next year. There's all these people hopping in front of you and shoving brochures in your face. It was a 3-day event (1st-3rd July) and we went on the 2nd day, but word is prices get slashed on the 3rd day. Bumped into lotsa Marine Bio seniors and some UMT staff!
Some of the more memorable booths there were:
- Reef Check Malaysia
- The Save the Sharks booth (I signed the petition! Have you?)
- Rainbow Runners (where I got my Mares Superchannel fins from a terribly annoying guy)
- A & L Enterprise (where I got my Atomic Aquatics Frameless Mask)
- Hydro Sapiens (Cute graphic tees!)
- Sea Shepherd (Great tees! Expensive though, from France)
Everything there is just so much cheaper than anywhere else in Malaysia. So if you're looking to buy diving gear, dive accessories, fish ID books or cheap diving packages, you should definitely pay them a visit next year! If you want diving gear head-to-toe in pink, you'll probably find it here! I didn't realize there were so many scuba diving brands out there. Only familiar with Mares, Seacsub and Scubapro.
Though the crowds are gonna make me think twice before going there again next year... Phew! And it's not just PWTC (where MIDE Was held) that was packed, it was everywhere! KLCC, Midvalley, Lowyat, Berjaya Times Square, you name it!
Mega Sale + summer holidays + weekend = crowds of massive proportionsI can't seem to locate my camera so no piccies. :-(
Oh oh, and we were at Sunway on the day of the
B2ST fanmeeting and I got to see the long line of fans waiting to get in and I HAD to buy some silly fangirly souvenirs (hehe) because there were just
so many selling outside!! There were even people drawing and coloring their signboards and lights with the group members' names that you can wave around. My only regret is that I did not get the T-shirt (lol).
Dancing white ants! This was worse than Siberia seats! Hot damn, I think I see Doo Joon! XPMy obsession with Korean stuff knows no bounds. We even paid a visit to The Street Cafe at Sunway because I had a coupon thing from K-popped!, only to find out later that it could only be used at the SS15 outlet. I thought it was the one near Asia Cafe in Subang but oh well. Food was okay, I didn't order anything creative, just beef mixed rice and peach soda (which turned out to be peach-flavored water) but the kimchi rocked! It's pretty simple fare all around.
